WAITETUNA-RAGLAN.
School Picnic. The Waitetuna school picnic took place at Topping’s beach in splendid weather, and the day was taken up with games, races, sea bathing and much feasting, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. A dance took place in tbc evening. Bush Burning. Several settlers in and around the district have started hush burning operations, but the burns as yet have not been very successful, Hie ground being too wet for life (ire lo run. Road Work. The metalling work on Hie Wai--1 china Valley road is proceeding apace, the metal being already spread from Wanihi to Hie top of the cutting, a good bit more than half way.
