Swamp Fires. The To Kawa swamp fires, which have been burning freely for weeks past and which have caused a good deal of damage to stock and property, are still alight, in spite of Hie untiring efforts of the band of flre-fightcrs, and the strong wind which has now sprung up threatens lo increase the llames considerably. It is hoped Dial rain is imminent, as nolhin.g but a steady downpour will extinguish Hie fires. Tennis. To Kawa proposes to make a tennis court in the school grounds for the use of children and adults. A meeting of Hie To Kawa West Tennis Club Committee was held on Monday evening. It was decided that labour he procured to do Hie necessary cleaning up of Hie, court, and a general tennis day is lo be held after this is done, when it is proposed to play off ladder matches. Personal. Mr Stephen Clark, storekeeper, has sold his business.
