AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
SECURING TRAINING GROUNDS. A general meeting of the Hamilton Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club was held in Elswick Chambers on Thursday evening, a good muster of members attending. The matter of a training ground for athletes was considered, and after an animated discussioa, it was unanimously decided that a deputatioa of three members wait on the Domain Board and try and come to some arrangments. The President Mr W. Lee Martin, and the hon. secretary were elected as members of the deputation. Messrs W. Lee Martin and F. G. Buckingham were elected to the general committee'. It was resolved to purchase an official starting pistol. The evening meeting on Monday, February 1, was considered a move in the right quarter. Further meetings will also be held on February 15, and March 1 and 15.. The spirit of enthusiasm displayed by the members present augurs well for the future of amateur athletics in this district. Handicaps for Monday:—
