RHODES SCHOLARS.

TWO ANNUALLY IN FUTURE. '

N.Z. AT HEAD OF RECORD.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.?" WELLINGTON, Friday.

As was announced in connection with last election, the Dominion is henceforth to choose two Rhodes scholars annually. This decision was conveyed to the University of New Zealand-in a cable from London on November 4 last.

Writing more fully to the Registrar on the mailer the secretary of the Rhodes Trust slates that "the trustees have long felt the urgency of the claim of New Zealand to an additional scholarship. As will be seen from figures which will be published in the new edition 'Oxford of To-day,' which is now in the press, New Zealand stands at the head of the record of Rhodes scholars from the Dominions. The trustees are confident that New Zealand will be able to send two scholars in future with'the same intellectual, moral and physical qualities as she has sent in the past, and that her scholars will continue to be what they have been—a credit both, to New Zealand and to the Empire." -
