TE AROHA v. MORRINSVILLE

A team of bowlers from the Claudelands Bowling Club visited the Te Awamutu green on Wednesday afternoon in search of the well-known Smith-Clarke Shield, which is for competition amongst the clubs around and in Hamilton, but they were not suc(essful, finding Te Awamutu on their own green too strong. Claudelands was represented' by W. Darlington, A. Ande/son, W. Carter and D. Anderson Is). The present holders were represented by C. Bowden, F. Bowden, Jim North and J. B. Wilson (s). Messrs G. Bowden and Wilson were members of the team that successfully wrested the shield from Hamilton East. The visitors picked the green at the start better than the local players, it being roiher faster than it usually is, and scored 4 on the opening head; but the defenders soon came to light, and on the sixth head it was 5 all. The local piayers then got a lead, and a useful 5 on the ninth .head showed them leading, 13 —5. They then got into their best form, and gradually drew away, to win somewhat easily by 31 to 13
