TREMOR AT HAMILTON. BUILDINGS SHAKEN. An earthquake shock was felt at Hamilton at 10.20 last night. The tremor was of about one minute duralion and was fairly severe, buildings in some cases being distinctly shaken. IN OTHER PLACES. AUCKLAND, Thursday. There was a sharp shock of earthquake in the city at 10.20 last night, also at Morrinsville, Wuiuku, and elsewhere. TE KUITI, Thursday. The most severe earthquake shock for many years was experienced in the district at 10.20 last night. It started with a low rumbling and minor vibrations, and ended with a violent shock, which rattled window frames and crockery, causing alarm among many people. The direction appeared to be north and south. It lasted close on half a minute. No damage is reported. MOKAU, ThursdayA sharp earthquake shock, the severest felt for some years past, and lasting about 30 seconds, was experienced at twenty past ten last night. TAUMARUNUI, Thursday. Shortly after 10 o'clock last night a fairly severe earthquake was experienced, lasting seven seconds. Some alarm was caused, but no damage was done. The volcano Ngauruhoe has been active for three or four days, and yesterday a column of smoke 700 or SQO feet high was emitted from the crater mouth. The volcano is still active, though not to the same extent as yesterday. Last night several earthquake shocks were felt in the vicinity of Waimarino.
