UNIVERSITY COUNCIL.
SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Tuesday.
The council of the Auckland University College met yesterday afternoon.
The Sir George Grey scholarship was awarded lo Mr N. S. Alexander, and the anonymous research scholarship to Mr J. C. Andrews. It was resolved to recommend Mr F. J. Turner for the national research scholarship. The council agreed to apply for an additional national research scholarship on behalf of Mr W. 11. Macky, op. the ground of exceptional ability; and also, to apply for a third year of tenure n the case of Mr J. R. lioskrg, the holder of a scholarship. Miss F. Pabst was appointed assistant to the professor of law, and Mr W. A, .Macky assistant to the professor of physics. The lecturer on journalism, Mr A. E. Mulgan, was granted 12 months’ leave of absence for the purpose of making a visit to England,
