FIRE AT LYTTELTON.
A HOTEL DAMAGED
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday.
Fire did damage to the extent of £7OO at the Mitre Hotel, Lyttelton, this evening. It started in a storeroom under the staircase and made its way up the stairs to a sitting room and" two other rooms.
The building is insured for £ISOO in the Phoenix office and the contents for £llOO in the South British office.
OTHER OUTBREAKS
ROTORUA, Monday
A four-roomed collage, owned and occupied by Mr. Charles Shooter, at Fairy Springs, two miles from Rotorun, was destroyed toy lire early on Sunday morning. The inmates only had time to seize the childen, roll them in blankets and escape. An armful of clothes was practically all that was saved.
WAIIII, Monday
A six-roomed dwelling owned and occupied by Mr. C. P. Ronnie was destroyed by fire on Saturday night, together with practically the whole of the contents. The house was insured with the Stale Office for £300,, and the furniture and effects with the New Home Office for £l6O.
GISBORNE, Monday
A fire destroyed a store and dwelling at Waiohika, the occupants, Mr and Mrs Sougcn and four children, having a narrow escape. The insurances total £IOOO.
