The bank teller, Mr William Almeida, who was wounded by the men who robbed the Hampton branch of the Commercial Bank, has succumbed to his injuries. In a statement made after his admission to hospital, the victim of the crime said that before he could prevent the men from robbing the bank one of them shot him in cold blood. They did not give him a cnance. When he fell the men put bank notes valued, at £176 into their pockets and decamped, y Mr Almeida struggled to his feet and chased the robbers. He covered them with a revolver and compelled- them to return to the bank.

The doctors were amazed that the injured man was able to move when he was suffering from such a wound. They say it was a sheer triumph of mind. Francis Perkins and James Davis have been arrested and charged with the alleged murder. Both have been remanded.
