WARDVILLE.
THE NEW SCHOOL. « On Wednesday morning the children of the district commenced school in the new building which was not quite finished oIT when officially opened by Mr Burns on Friday last. The school is a very fine structure of two rooms with corridor and teachers room, class rooms arc each 21 x 20ft. The whole is built to the latest Education Board plans, a feature being the cross ventilation which should ensure coolness during the heat of summer. The contract price was £IOB2 fOs. Successful Dance. On Friday last a very successful dance was held in the Wardville Hall, following on from the opening of the new school. About CO couples, were present. Local items were rendered by Miss Clarke and Mr P. Ncy and were much appreciated. Beneficial Rain. Heavy rain which fell on Tuesday night has stopped all metalling work on roads, otherwise it has had a beneficial effect on the pastures. Building Activity. Building is brisk in the district, work having been started on a fine residence for Mr F. Montague, while those of Mr S. Clarke and F. Sheat are nearing completion.
