DISTURBED PORTUGAL.
ANOTHER OUTBREAK.
ATTACKS ON THE PALACE.
AUTHORITIES MAINTAIN ORDER
(Australian and N.Z. Gable Assn.> LISBON, December II
A revolutionary outbreak started by extremists, and supported by the gunboat Douro, with the object of overthrowing the Ministry, was rapidly suppressed. The revolutionaries attempted to capture the President's palace, but the attackers were repulsed and fled, leaving one dead. A renewed attack later was easily repulsed. Subsequently revolutionaries marched through the streets throwing bombs. Several people were injured. An ultimatum sent to the revolting gunboat was immediately accepted. The President, Senor Comes, recently Portuguese Ambassador to Britain, courageously visited the garrisons immediately the trouble developed, and found the troops faithful to the Government.
The Government has announced that the trouble is over, and it is well able to maintain order.
