THEFTS OF JEWELS.

RICH HAUL FROM FLAT.

GEMS VALUED AT £120,000.

(Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) LONDON, November 24.

Mrs Oakley Maund, a wealthy widow living in a mansion flat in Victoria Street, returned to London last night from the Continent and found that expert cracksmen had stolen jewellery valued at £120,000. As' soon as she reached the door of her flat she saw that the lock had been tampered with. A pane of slass had been knocked out so that the lock could be reached. The pane had been replaced and the damage covered with soft soap. Mrs Maund rushed to her jewel safe and found it had been rifled. Necklaces, tiaras and other jewels had gone.
