The Paris correspondent of the Daily Chronicle say's ihe arrest of the bandit Gabriel Mourey, after a fierce struggle which resulted in the serious wounding of Mourey, brings to light a famous criminal career. Mourey was arrested on a charge of stealing- jewellery valued at £25,000 from a millionaire of New York.
For murder Mourey was transported to the famous "Devil's Island" but made a remarkable escape and settled at Venezuela, and there committed many thefts. Then he proceeded to Mexico and tho United States. His career has been a series of wonderful episodes, but ho has always evaded arrest by fine disguises.
