CRICKET.

HAMILTON EAST CLU6. At the annual meeting of the Hamilton East Cricket Club, held in the social rooms, Everybody’s Buildings, there was an excellent gathering of old and new players and supporters. Mr S. J. Rawlinson (president) occupied the' chair.

In his opening remarks the chairman commented on' the success attained" by the. club during last season. It was commendable, seeing that it was the first season for a number of years that a cricket club had taken the field under the name of Hamilton East. Commencing last season with a “B” grade team, the club succeeded in finishing up second to that fine team from Hamilton. High School. This year he looked forward to seeing the club enter teams in both the A and B grades, and, judging from the attendance that evening, together with the promised assistance of several other , devotees to the national summer pastime, it looked as if the club’s expectations would more than be fulfilled. From the balance-sheet it would be seen that the club was free of debt, and possessed assets to the value of £35, which was most satisfactory. The thanks of the club were expressed to .Messrs Tisdall Ltd. for kindly assistance during the past season. To the secretary (Mr R. Walbran), for his enthusiasm, labours, use of car, and the able manner in which he filled his position, was due to the club’s most fitting recognition. To this official the club’s success was in a large manner due. To the treasurer, for the capable manner in which he fulfilled his duties, and to the club captain (Rev Atcheson) the club extended Its thanks, and last, but

by no means least, the club most cordially thanks the ladies of Hamilton East for the enjoyable afternoon teas provided to the visiting players and members of the ciub. The chairman, in again referring to the coming season, earnestly reoommended the advisability of the club getting in touch with the schools (Hamilton East, Marist Bros., Hillcrest, and Fairfield) and Southwell College, and giving every encouragement to the boys. lit should be the aim of the club, and the Association, to give every assistance possible, together with practical support. The following officers were unanimously elected for the coming season:—Patron, Mr \V. Holtby; president Mr S. J. Rawlinson; vice-presi-dents Messrs J. W. Ross, W. Jordan, E. A. Cox A. N. Norton, W.
