Hockey Social.

The members of the Okete and Te Uku Hockey Clubs gave a very successful entertainment in the Memorial Hall the other evening, which was very largely attended by visitors from all parts of the district. Songs, stage dances, recitations and tableaux were the order of the evening till supper time, when the hall was given up to dancing, which was* continued into the early hours of the morning. The following programme was much enjoyed by the guests:—Selection by hockey band; piano duet, Miss E. Moon and Mrs Harsant; solo, Mrs Fred Peart; recitation, Miss A. Gilmour; song, Mr G. Lusty; action song, “The Chinaman”; song, Mr Field; dance, Miss Adams; song, Miss Dent; dance, “hornpipe,” Miss Criglington; character song “Summer,” hockey girls; recitation, Miss Gilmour; song, Mr E. 0. Wallis; song, Miss Adams; song, Mr Field; character song, “Bed Time.” Hockey. Last week the Scots hockey team played a combined team at Raglan and, being evenly matched, no score was made. Mr Norris was referee. Euchre Tournament. At the euchre tournament held last week in aid of the Town Hall funds, live of the ladies tied for the chief prize, which was eventually won by Miss M. Nicholson. Messrs Hayes and Millar lied for the men’s prize, Mr Mill winning in the end. The booby prizes were won by Miss T. Bregman and Mr A. Bregman. Mesdames W. Vernon and Newton supplied the refreshments, and dancing occupied the remainder of the evening.
