State Minister of Justice, addressed the Nationalist Conference in vindication of his action, including provision for a referendum in 1928 in the Liquor Bill at present before Parliament. , The Conference disagreed with the provision, and adopted a resolution that the referendum should be held in 1924. The Conference also carried a resolution in favour of the abolition of proportional representation, and the substitution of preferential voting system based on three State members for a constituency corresponding to one Eederal constituency.
