The Commonwealth has discovered that, it has inherited an unexpected burden through the transference of postmasters from the State ;to the Federal service. Under some of the Slate’s regulations no retiring age has been lixed, whereas the Commonwealth lixcs age at G 5. One retired officer sued the Federal Government for wrongful 'dismissal and was awarded £2OOO damages. The ease was a lest- for others under which the claims approximate _£loo,’ooo.
