DARGAVILLE MAYOR SUED. VERDICT FOR £5. By Telegraph.—Press Association. DARGAVILLE, Thursday. Judgment was delivered to-day in the libel action, Sydney Lawrence Spanhake (County Council engineer) v. Robert Edward Hornbiow (Mayor of Daragville). The claim was for £IOO, and arose out of alleged' statements made by defendant after the declaration of the poll al the last Mayoral election. Judgment was given for plaintiff for £5 and costs. In the course of a lengthy judgment the magistrate said plaintiff had not suffered material damage, and was not entitled to substantial damages. The amount of damages and costs was subscribed by friends of Hie defendant a few minutes after judgment was delivered- >„■-—•• - •
