FRIESIAN AND RED POLLS.

STUD STOCK SALE.

AT WERAROA DEVELOPMENT FARM

By Telegraph.—Special to Times. WELLINGTON, Friday.

The annual stud stock sale of surplus Friesian and Red Poll bulls was held at the Weraroa Central Development Farm, Levin, yesterday, and attracted buyers from practically all parts of the Dominion, and the animals sold were well distributed. Some of the younger stock showed the effects of tho severe winter through which they had passed, but the quality of the great majority of them was all that could be desired. There was a good demand for Friesians, but Red Polls have not yet apparently been sufficiently exploited to become as fashionable as they now are in the Old Country. ' In Friesians the well-known herd sire Dominion Woodcrest Pietje Mercedes, which is to be superseded by an imported animal now on its way from America, was sold at 196gns to Dr. Cameron, of Melbourne, who some time ago purchased a full sister, which was sent to Australia in exchange for some Red Polls.

Other good sales were those of the yearlings, Dominion Paul Crest, which changed hands at 80gns to Mr Gots, Mangatainoka, and Dominion King Woodcrest, which went to- South Canterbury at 85gns. Other well-grown yearlings made from 40gns to 58gns, and others at from 20gns to 35gns. In Red Polls the imported herd sire Force Majeure was acquired by Mr Quinton Donald, of Fcatherslon, for 80 guineas, while the two-year-old Dominion Aeronaut, by Aviator—Lucky Hit, went to a Southland buyer at 60 gns. The yearlings made from 18gns to 33gns.

Some really good Berkshire pigs were offered, but in most cases the prices offered were not sufficiently tempting to allow of sales being ma'de. Wcaner boars made from s£gns to 7 gns, and up to lCgns for exceptionally good. A sow with a litter of 16 made 16gns, and weaner sows from sgns to 7Jgns.
