RIGHT RAILWAY BOARD.
RETURN OF OPPOSITION. A. Q. DENT HEADS POLL. , BIG VOTE RECORDED. Considerable interest has been - evinced in the election for a permanent * board for the Waikato-West Coast *<s Railway District, and this interest culminated in a heavy vote when the poll was taken yesterday. There are nine seats on the Board, and there are two factions, one known as the "progressive," whicti favours further. Investigation into the project, with the object of pushing the railway through, and the other, which is entirely opposed to proceeding further with the scheme. Each party put nine candidates forward, while there was one independent candidate.
All the .unsuccessful candidates, with the exception of Mr Davies (Independent) stood on the progressive ticket. The Waitetuna returns are not included in the above totals, but they cannot affect the result.
