Mr and Mrs D. Hay, who have been on a visit to Australia, returned to Hamilton last evening.
Sergeant Edwards, who was operated on for appendicitis a short time ago, has made a rapid recovery and is about again.
Mr A. Hanna, of Auckland, and Mr and Mrs' H. C. Raphiel, also of Auckland, are among the guests at the Waikato Hotel.
Mr and Mrs C. E. Lamb, of Tc Aroha, returned from Sydney by the Ulimaroa yesterday, after spending three months in Australia. Mr and Mrs 11. P. Caughcy returned to Auckland by the Ulimaroa yesterday, after a seven months' tour of Britain, America, and the Continent. At the' meeting of the Auckland Board of Education, yesterday, the following temporary appointments were made: —Miss B. Glover, teacher, Kaimai; Mrs A. W. Cheriton, teacher, Ruakura. The committees are to be consulted regarding the proposed appointment of either Mr K. C. Maclaurin or Mr H. J. Wooller, as headmaster at Meadowbank; Mr P. G. Lewis, M.A., or Mr J. F. Roberts, headmaster, Tc Awamutu D.H.; Miss 11. D. Foster, assistant, Cambridge D.IL; and Miss Schofleld, as'slstant, Tamahcrc.
