The New York Sun editorially commends 1 the Australasian policy of socalled immigration selection, declaring that the population increase is relatively rapid, despite strict standards. The papers applauds the Australasian intention to check any possibility of developing undemocratic States, based on sjave or cheap labour. In the same, / connection the Sun is impressed by the excellent showing of the Now Zealand and Australian vital statistics, dcdaring that they are the world’s index i of civilisation in this respect, andadds: “These British States of the South Seas can teach the world much concerning the conservation of human life.”
