Mr J. Curtayne, District Supervisor (Auckland) Government National Provident Fund, is visiting Hamilton on official business. Mr Donald C. Mclntyre, at one time a resident -of Hamilton, is paying a visit to the town, renewing old acquaintances.
At a meeting of the Waikato Presbytery, held yesterday, a call addressed to Rev. 11. B. Gray, formerly of Hawera, was received from Waihi. It was sustained by the Presbytery, ( and accepted by Mr Gray. t
Mr W. Goodfellow, managing director of tho New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, arrived in Tauranga yesterday on a health-recruiting trip. He will visit other centres in the Bay of Plenty, and later contemplates leaving on a visit to Australiat
The Town Clerk, of Christchurch, Mr H. R. Smith, who has held the position for 22 years, tendered his resignation last night for health reasons. Mr Smith has been connected with municipal life for over 40 years.—Press Association.
The Hon. R. F. Bollard, Minister for Internal Affairs, accompanied by Mrs Bollard and his private secretary, Mr E. N. G. Poultcu, arrived ;n Auckland from Wellington yesterday. He has a number of official engagements to fulfil this morning in tho Ministerial rooms at the post office. Toward the end of the week Mr Bollard will visit the Waikato. Mr David Ifebenton, who recently resigned the organising secretaryship of the Farmer’s Union in the jWairarapa is to be a recipient of a presentation on October 17th, in recognition of his many years of association with the agricultural and' pastoral Industries. Mr Ifebenton,' who is the new organiser for tho Reform Party, takes up his residence in Wellington this month, though his duties will naturally take him to all parts of the dominion. Mr J. Binns, who has been associated with the Waikato Times companionship for the past eight years, and who, acting on medical advice, will leave for Australia this week, was this afternoon presented with a suitcase by his erstwhile comrades. Tn making the'presentation, Mr A. E. Manning voiced the regret /of the management and companionship at losing Mr Binns’ services, and his remarks- were supplemented by Mr Geo, Buckland (news foreman), and Mr E. Prendergast (literary staff). Mr Binns briefly replied, and the gathering terminated with “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow,” and hearty cheers.
