WAHAROA.

A Farewell. Mr T. Nightingale, wha has been on the staff of the Waharoa Butter Factory for some years and is proceeding to Australia to take up his residence was farewelled in the Y.M.G.A. rooms on 18th inst., by his fellow employees of the dairy factories. Mr Nightingale has always been a prominent figure at the; social gatherings of the Y.M.C.A. and his musical 'and elocutionary talents will be much missed. During the evening a presentation of a solid leather kit bag was made to Mr Nightingale by Mr J. King on behalf of the employers of the dairy factory. Laudatory speeches were aflso made by Messrs Barker and Limmer.

An excellent programme of musical and other items was rendered, the Items being as follows: —Overture, Y.M.C.A. orchestra (Messrs J. King, clarionet, W. Summers, violin, O’Connor, cornet and H. Lewis, piano'; recitation, Mr Olen; dulcimore solo, Mr Greenhorn; song, Mr Lock; song, Mr Kempster; humorous recital, Mr Ashworth; song, Mr Cresswell; song, Mr Cleveland: song, Mr Lock; song, Mr Ashworth; song, Mr J. Walker. The singing of "Auld Lang Syne and the Nalional Anthem brought a very enjoyable evening to a close. New School. . The new school at Ilunga Hunga was opened by the chairman of the Auckland Education Board Mr Banks, Mr W. 11. Mathers, who has been the prime mover in the establishment of the school and Mr W. Lockyer, one of the oldest settlers delivered addresses. The school is in charge of Mr F. Lee, of Auckland. Personal. Mr T. Nightingale left for Auckland on the 20th, where he joined the R.M.S. Marama, proceeding to Sydney. Mr T. Walker, who has been spend-, ing a few days in Auckland, returned by the express on the 20th. Mr J. Blyth, who has been on a holiday visit to Wanganui, returned by express on 22nd.
