DAIRY PRODUCE POOL.
BILL THIS WEEK, VESTED INTERESTS’ OPPOSITION. “ PURE SYNDICALISM.” By Telegraph.—Special to Times. WELLINGTON, Saturday. It is expected that the Dairy Produce Export Control Bill will make its appearance in the House early next week, and meanwhile the parties to the controversy going ou in the newspapers over the measure are exchanging their final shots. “ Mercantile houses," a correspondent writes in the Times this morning, replying to Mr Ground’s attack on “ vested interests," “ are opposed to Government interference because they know the dangers ahead. Governments change, and the changes are not always for the national benefit of the public.' Although the dairy industry has made great progress, no one contends that its management has reached the stage of perfection. There is room for further improvement, but this can be achieved by voluntary effort, and reasonable co-operation. Business people do not desire to see * syndicalism ’ established in this country bv Act of Parliament. The Dairy Control Bill is pure 1 syndicalism,’ and that is worse than Socialism. We have now got meat control, if the Dairy Control Bill is passed we will have butter and cheese control, and if a Labour Government gets Into power it would be fully justified in passing a ‘ Job ’ Control Bill.” And so the .controversy wages on.
