FIRE AT TE RAPA.

HOUSE COMPLETELY DESTROYED. OCCUPANTS’ NARROW ESCAPE. : At about midday yesterday a fourroomed house owned and occupied by Mr C. Gordon, farmer, Te Rapa, was completely destroyed by fire. Mr Gordon was away at the time, but Mrs Gordon and four young children were in the house when the conflagration started. The wife had been baking, and had occasion to leave the kitchen for a few minutes, and presumably it was in her absence that the outbreak commenced. So rapidly did the flames spread that Mrs Gordon just had time to get clear of the burning structure with the youngest child before it was enveloped. The insurance on the house and ' contents is not yet available.
