Sandham batted throughout Surrey's first innings for 155 (unfinished). Yorkshire (255 and 239) beat Kent (130 and 244). Woolley scored 138. Robinson took seven wickets for 20 runs. Holmes and SutclilTe, in their flrst-wicket partnership in the second innings, scored 104 runs, this being their twentieth century partnership, which is a record.

Cambridge University had an unusual experience, being- Ijcaten after declaring on their first innings at 332 for nine wickets. Essex replied with 223. Cambridge's second innings produced J3G, and Essex put up 24(5 for three wickets.
