SECRETARY ARRESTED.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. DANNEVIRKE, Wednesday.
Thomas Henry Jones, a well-known Dannevirke resident and prominent in Dominion Rugby circles, voluntarily surrendered to the police at Takapau to-day on his own accusation of falling to account for money entrusted to him as secretary of the Arcadia Picture Company of which lie is secretary. The police said accused admitted defalcations of between £IOO and £SOO. The actual amount will.be unknown until the audit. Accused was remanded until tomorrow.
AUCKLAND LADY’S BEQUESTS.
AUCKLAND, Wednesday.
Miss Emily J. Marlin, a colonist of 58 years’ standing, died on June 13. She bequeathed £BSOO to various institutions, including £IOOO each to the Salvation Army (Auckland), Young Women’s Christian Association (Auckland), Mt. Albert Methodist Orphanage, the national orphanages in London founded by Dr. Stephenson, the Society, for P.W.G. and P.G.A. (Auckland), the Methodist. Home Mission Church extension fund, and the Methodist Foreign Mission fund; also £SOO each to the Blind Institute, St. Mary’s Home at Ot'ahuhu, and the Door of Hope at Auckland.
