FLIGHT TO THE POLE.
A FRENCH ATTEMPT. TO BE MADE NEXT YEAR. Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn. ' \ ' PARIS, June 21. Lieut. Rayer will leave France in the summer of 1924 to establish headquarters at North Spitsbergen, from which he will attempt to fly to the North Pole. He believes that he can cover the return flight of 1437 miles in 21 hours. Four biplanes will be taken, two for the flight and two to be ready at the base to assist the fliers,if summoned. All will he equipped with wiro I. " • CHRISTIANIA, June 21. ‘ The Aftenpost states that Commander Amundsen is returning by the schooner Holmes. He does not intend to seek the schooner Maud.
