The Metropolis defeated the- New Zealand Association football learn by 4 goals to 3 after a scraggy game, in which the visitors gave a more scientific display than the local players. The New. Zealanders regarded the game as a picnic match, a number of players changing positions. The Metropolitans kept the ball in the air throughout, Sheeringham's individualism being a feature of the game. This player was specially alert i-n, the proximity of the goat mouth, and he netted the ball on four occasions. Campbell, Balk and Thomas scored for New Zealand.

The game was played at Manly, which is a hotbed of the Rugby Union, but apart from dribbling rushes the New Zealanders' game was not edifying from a propaganda standpoint.
