GOLF.

GLENEAGLES TOURNAMENT. Australian and N.Z- Cable Assn. LONDON, June 19. J. H. Kirkwood, with a score of 71, 36 out and 35 home, leads the field in the first round of the two qualifying rounds for the Gleneagles 1000-guinea golf competition. Havers and Gadd played a four-ball 3 6-hole match against Kirkwood and Barnes at Gleneagles. The match ended all square. The Daily Telegraph states that a wealthy Londoner has made Kirkwood a tempting offer to become his private professional. There is a possibility that the Australian may accept the offer.
