PERSONAL.
Rt. Rev. Dr. H. W. Cleary, Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland, who recently returned from a lengthy trip abroad, was in Hamilton this morning. His Lordship returned to Auckland this afternoon. Mr William Patterson, aged 74 years, of No. 7 Road, Waitoa, died suddenly after a short illness at the residence of his son-in-law, Mr E. Wheeler. He leaves a wife and nine children (five sons and four daughters), and 32 grand-children. Bishop Azariah, of Dornakai, India, who has been in the Dominidn for the past few weeks, anticipated visiting Hamilton among other places, but it has now been found nccess&ry to delete this centre and Palmerston North from the tour. The very cold and damp weather which has been experienced has naturally b'een very trying ,to the Bishop, who is accustomed to a very warm climate and, as a consequence, his travelling has had to be curtailed to some extent* The Bishop is at present, resting "off the beaten track," and will reach Auckland on Saturday.
