MINISTER OF EDUCATION.
TATUANUI SCHOOL OPENED.
At Tatuanui on Wednesday the Hon. CL J. Parr officially opened the local school, the fit's! of its kind in the dis. trict. There was a large number of people present. Mr Parr said the Department was fostering back-block schools, as was evidenced by.the fact that out of the last 700 schools opened 630 were in country districts. Afternoon tea was served by the *ladjes, terminating a happy day.
Visit to Te Aroha.
The Hon. C. J. Parr, Minister for Education, visited Te Aroha on Wednesday and met the school committee, where a request was made for a school at Herriesville. It was pointed out that when sports meetings, races, etc., are being held schoolchildren were prevented from attending the Te Aroha school, owing to the danger in crossing the narrow bridge spanning the • Waihou river. The Minister promised to obtain full particulars and seriously . consider the prpposal.
