CAMBRIDGE BOARD. The Cambridge District Electric Power Board met at Cambridge on Monday evening, there being present: Messrs Mervyn Wells (in the chair), G. M. Watt, T. Martin, W. J. White, and J. S. Fisher, also the supervising engineer (Mr 11. C. Oaten), and the secretary (Mr J. W. Cocks). Progress Report. The Supervising Engineer submitted the following report which was adopted:—"The progress to date has been fully covered by the annual report furnished last week. Since the reading of that report, the first country line in the southern area has been livened up. an<Lthree motors and three houses connected thereto. In addition to these, there are two more houses and one motor to bo connected in a day or two. The wiremen in tins area are now working in Pukekura road, towards Vosner's, and this section will be the next to be livened, as there are several motors waiting connection. In the northern area, wiring is being proceeded with in School Road, towards Hamilton Road, and it is hoped to have this section alive before the week-end. Poles are being set in the lower parallel road, and will continue on until the Ohaupo Road is reached, and will return to Leamington, via this route. Several pole extensions are being carried out in Leamington town area to serve consumers still being wired. Another motor reading has just been completed. The total consumers on the country lines now number 12 lighting, and 26 motors. General. The Stale Advances Office wrote that the rate of interest that may be paid on flic loans of £15,000 and £IO,OOO is not to exceed 6£ per cent.— Received. The South Auckland Electric Power Board forwarded copy of minutes of last meeting of the League,, held on November 11, 1921, at Hamilton. —The chairman moved that the Board's delegates to the South Auckland Power Board's meeting be thanked for the work they had done—all the agreements arrived at by the local board being earned. It was a very great compliment to the Board that the members of the executive had been asked to draft a clause in the Act for the Minister to approve.—Mr T. Martin seconded, and the motion was carried. The Public Works Department forwarded details of transformers and meters for sale. —Received. The New Zealand Government Railways forwarded deed of pole stacking sites at Bruntwood and Hautapu for completion.—-Messrs Martin and Waft were authorised to sign, and it was decider] to affix the Board's seat. Messrs Lewis and Baltimore wrote in reference to Board"s liability for payment of rates.—The chairman moved that the Board write the Borough Council and other local bodies with a view to having to pay half rales only as the Board is a public body.—Carried. Messrs Lewis and Dallimore also wrote asking for information re inclusion of Maungatautari and Taotaoroa in the Board's district. The chairman again referred to the advantages of electricity versus gas. He pointed out that while wool, meal, and other things were on the dull aide at present it was the merit of the article they sold that was inducing people to link up with electricity now. 11, wns decided lo write the subcontractor to sub-stations, and ask him to use his best endeavours to complete his work. Messrs J. R. Fow and . Co. wrote offering sale of motor truck to Board. —Received. A motion confirming by way of special order resolution passed at a special meeting of the Board, held on 20th October, 1921. making and levying a special rate of one-eighth of a penny in the pound on the capital rateable value of all rateable property in the Cambridge electric power district for the purpose of paying interest, sinking fund, and other charges on a loan of £15,000 was carried. Thanks. The chairman (Mr Wells) expressed his, tlianks to the members of the Hoard in re-electing- him chairman. He was absent from last meeting when this appointment was made, but said he took a great interest in the Board, and fell that it was due to his fellowmembers that he gnt along so well. The Cambridge Board was also recognised outsMc, and Mr Wells said lie felt it an exceedingly great honour to be chairman of such Board. He again thanked the members.
