TOTALISATOR IN ENGLAND

Racing writers are not disposed to Accept Lord jersey's Pari-Mutuel views, pointing out that the Jockey ■Club is one of the most conservative bodies in the world. The Evening Standard declares that the Government is now considering the possibility of the introduction of the .totalisator, the Exchequer deriving ten per cent from the wagerings. In view of the present burden of taxation, it is believed the public will favour the innovation. Critics strongly support the suggestion to license bookmakers, quoting the Australian methods in favour of the totalisator and" licensing bookmakers.
