N.S.W. WHEAT SCANDALS

GEORGESON RECALLED. A DEFECTIVE MEMORY (United Press Association.) SYDNEY, December o. A Royal Commission inquiring' into the administration of the 1916-i7 wheat crop, which has been hung .ip for several months owing- to the illness of George Georgeson, one of ue chief witnesses, resumed for the purpose of examining Georgeson, whose lost memory, according to medical evidence, has been regained. Georgeson claimed now to be capable of conducting business; but to practically every question asked regarding wheat transactions, he declared that he could not remember. He could remember that he was engaged in the wheat business, but would reveal no details. He said people came to his house and said he was suspected of giving money to Ministers of the Crown, but though he could not remember he was satisfied he was as capable of giving money to Ministers as of committing murder, and as for giving money to politicians lie was certain he could not be a party to giving sixpence which was not earned. No money passed through his fingers wrongly. The Commission considered it useless to further question Georgeson, and after examining medical men and others upon the strength of whose affidavits the Commission re-opened, Mr Justice Pring, in view of the fact that none of the expected new evidence was forthcoming, adjourned the Commission generally.
