RAGLAN COUNTY COUNCIL
ENGINEER'S REPORT. At Ibe meeting of- the Raglan County Council, al Ngarunwahia, on Wednesday, the engineer's report dealt with the work done in the several ridings during September and October. Onewhero Hiding.—On the Ponganui Road two bridges require strengthening, and the necessary limber tias been ordered. The survey of Rutherford's Road lias been completed, and plans and specifications drawn up. A bridge on Allen and Ayer's Uoad is past repair, and concrete pipes have been delivered at Tuakau ready for conveyance to the .-pot. Pukekawa Riding.—Pipes to complete tlie culverts on Ibe PukekawaBregmen's Landing Road have been ordered, and fresh specifications and estimates submitted to the Public Works Department for metalling near the Opuatia Landing. Road deviation surveys for the Brcgmon's Landing, Churchill Hoad, have been completed. Whyngapc Riding.—The RotongaroRangiriri Road will be open for traffic Ibis week. Material has 'been ordered for repairs to the Whangape bridge. Material is on the ground for building a shed at the Awaroa Landing, and the erection will be commenced this week. The Awaroa landing bridge, which requires re-erection, will also he commenced, as the material is on the ground, as it is also for certain other bridges in the riding. Pukemiro Hiding.—The erection of a jetty at Luke's quarry will be put in band when Hie timber comes to hail. Satisfactory progress is being male with Hie several works. Waingaro Riding.—Suitable metal quarries have been found, and a .-outran le| for breaking metal. 'The saleyards bridge lias been completed. Other works have made satisfactory progress. Te Akau Hiding.—A contract has been lei lo [nil Hichardson's slip on the llun.kiwi Hoad 'in order. The bridge near Wheeler's, on the MangatiDunmore Hoad, has been re-erected. Meial has been broken in several parts of the riding, and minor works carried out. Whaingaroa Riding.—An estimate has been made lo blind Ibe Whata-whata-Raglan Main Road from the 20 to 30-mile peg, including scarifying where necessary. The Okete Hoad is being metalled, and minor works carried out. Kauroa Riding. Fresh estimates have been submitted for metalling the Kauroa butter factory-Te Mala Hoad. Oibbison's quarry has been laid out for Ihe installation of crushing plant. Orders have hern lodged for material for Jerome's Deviation Bridge. Agreement, forms have been received in connection with Ibe closing of old surveyed roads, etc., on Jerome's Boad. and settlers will be interviewed at an early date. Karamu Biding.—Estimates, etc., in connection with flood damage on the Waipa-Baclan Boad have been submitted to the Public Works Department. Pirongin Biding.—The new reinforced concrete culvert at Jackson's, Harapcpe-Te Bore Hoad, has been completed. The limber for the Te Palm Bridge has been delivered, and the carpenters have commenced work. The report was adopted.
