EAST COAST FREEZING CO.

LIQUIDATION AGREED TO. PROPOSED NEW COMPANY. (By Telesraph.—Press Association). WIIAKATANE, Thursday. An extraordinary meeting' of shareholders of the East Coast Co-operative Freezing' Co., Ltd-, yesterday confirmed the previous resolution to go into voluntary liquidation, appointing Mr John Arres, the present accountant, liquidator. A public meeting' of farmers and business men supported the co-opera-live principle, carried a resolution to endeavour to form a new company, and tender for the assets of the liast Coast Company for the purpose of keeping the freezing industry going under the control of farmers. The works have a capacity for handling 200 bullocks and 2000 sheep; they cost £187,000, and are thoroughly modern. A committee was set up to canvass the whole Coast for support immediately, as the liquidator will call for bids at once. A novel suggestion was made by one speaker that the Government be approached to agree to the formation of a special rating area, analogous to power hoards, for the purpose of pledging the credit of the whole Coast for raising money and virtually establishing public-controlled freezing works.
