THAMES VALLEY UNION SOUGHT. CENTRALISATION FAVOURED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. At a meeting of the management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union last night a letter was received from ilu 1 Goldfields Union asking for authority to form a separate union to be known as Ihe Thames Valley Union. Mr S. Dean reminded Ihe meeting of what took place at the Hamilton conference at which delegates from the New Zealand Rugby Football Union explained that it was a matter,for northern territories to centralise rather than endeavouring to affiliate directly with the parent body. A general discussion ensued regarding the affiliation of county unions generally. Mr Dean moved that the Goldflelds' request be forwarded to Mr McDavitt, secretary of the Waikato Union, asking him what progress was made as a result of the conference to get the unions interested together. The resolution was carried. FRENCH TEAM'S VISIT. PROGRAMME OF 20 MATCHES. WELLINGTON, Friday. At a meeting of the management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union last night there was a sharp discussion regarding the forthcoming tour of the French team. The following statement was prepared at Hie meeting and handed to the press: "A letter was forwarded to the Federation Franeaise setting out the terms and conditions under which the French tour would be undertaken, the invitation having already been extended and accepted for the season 1922. There will be 20 matches in New Zealand and Australia, three to be tests against New Zealand. The team is to consist of 25 players and a manager. It is suggested leaving England about the middle of April, 1922, via Panama. The New Zealand Union is to undertake the financing of the tour."
