ORDINARY MEETING.

At'.'fl meeting of. ihe' Hamilton Borough Council last night Ihe Mayor. Mr .1. 11. Fow, presided. Theer were also present Crs. Mason. Farrer. Tidd, Barton, Lowry. Cilhert, .lemons, Brind, Boyes, Tristram, and Rollelt. The following reports of committees were adopted: — Works Committee.

The Works Committee recommended as follows: —A. .1. lleighway, Abbotsford Street footpath: That a footpath be formed as desired. —Mrs T. Ryan and Patrick Ryan re drains at Naylor street: That these people be advised that MiThomas has paid for the pipes used in Ins portion of the drain, and that if thev are also prepared to supply 12in pipes or pay for them the Council will fill in the drains in front of their proportics.—W. Cullcn, approach to section Boundary road: That application to cut away the bank be granted subject to the work being carried out under the direction of the chairman of the committee and the borough engineer.— C. Lafferly, open drain at Frankton. That tenders he called to clean the drain out between Greenwood street and the back of Mr LalTerly's.—A. J. Den/., parting over footpath Hall street: Thai the supervisor's action in arranging with the carter to put the footpath. in order he approved.—Jacob Troug'iton, block in drain: Thai the matter be left in Ihe hands of Ihe maintenance supervisor to set if Pizzini will supply pipes for Ihe portion beneath his enIrance. —Waikalo Shipping Co.'s account, charges MerCer quarry: That the •business manager state the Council's ease to I lie chairman of directors Wit*) a view to obtaining a reduction. Gas, Water and Electricity. , The Gas, Water and Electricity Committee recommended as follows:—Long water services: A recommendation was received from the business manager and Ihe waterworks engineer that applicants for extraordinary services be asked to finance the scheme as a temporary loan and fo secure uniformity they be asked lo sign a genera! application form setling out. the condition under which Ihe Council and the applicant agreed to the service being put in. Recommended lhat Ihe suggestion be approved.—To lia.pa line: A copy of the letter forwarded !u the Minister of Public Works was read and approved. Town C!6rk's Committee.

The Town Clerk's Committee recommended as under: —Engineer's department: That so far as the applications before the committee for increase in salaries are concerned, the engineer's office be divided from the town clerk's office and the applications be ctealt with im their merits. —Mr Allen's salary: That Mr Allen's salary be raised lo £.r> per week from Ist October, 1921, —Messrs Tnine and Forbes' salaries: That Messrs Taino and Forbes be informed that the Council regrets that it is net in a position to increase their salaries at the moment. but that they will be reviewed at th' 1 end of Ihe financial year.—Mr Parker's bonus: That Mr Parker's application for a bonus be favourably recommended to the Water, Gas and Electricity Committee. —Maintenance supervisor: That a rearrangement be marie whereby the responsibility for the maintenance supervisor's department be placed in the hands of the borough engineer.
