ROLL OF HONOR
PATERANGI PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH J Sunday morning was the occasion or ; a solemn anil impressive evening at the j Patcrangi Presbyterian Church, when Mr .1. A. Young, M.P. for the district, ! unveiled a roll of honour to the memory [ .if those men associated with i the congregation who sevred in the , Great War. The church was filled to its utmost, and the Rev. D. X. McKenr.ic t preached an able and appreciative sermon from the text, "Fear God ami i Honour the King," dealing mainly with, relations between Church and State. At Hie conclusion of the sermon the organist, played Handel's Dead March in "Saul." After this Mr Young, at the request of the minister, unveiled the memorial, and in doing so paid a tribute, j to the record of the men from the Paterangi district, and noted that o'lt of the j 12 members of their congregation, licit the number had paid the supreme sacrifice for the upholding of their country's honour. The roll, which was a fine piece of workmanship, made from New Zealand woods, bore the inscription, "Paterangi Presbyterian Church, For God, King /and Country." Then cam-e the following names: R. Gordon, K. Johnstone, W. A. Macky, N. Milne, L. Ry-, burn, R. Scott, all of whom ha I "gone West" in their country's cause. The remaining names on the Roll of Honour are: M. Clephane, N. Johnstone, R. Johnstone, J. Kay, G. McCatlum, A. Sing. At the conclusion of Mr Young's address the "Last Post" was sounded and the minister pronounced the Benediction. The ceremony was very impressive and solemn throughout.
