BRITAIN’S AIRSHIPS

A RETURN OF THEIR COST. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received July 29, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, July 28. Captain Guest (Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury) stated that the total cost of construction and maintenance, housing, personnel, and overhead charges in regard to airships from October 22, when they were taken over from the Admiralty, amounted to £2,266,000. Replying to Mr Johnson Hicks, Captain Guest said that if the Imperial Conference decision was unfavourable, he could not hold out for a further postponement of the decision to scrap the airships.
