Before the Supreme Council Herr Mayre (the Austrian Chancellor) described the economic difficulties, ani pleaded for a comprehensive scheme of assistance. Mr Lloyd George expressed sympathy and invited the delegates, together with the financial experts, to meet Mr Austen Chamberlain, Chancellor of the Exchequer. As the outcome of the latter conference the Allied experts have promised to present to their respective Governments suggestions by which Austria will be effectively assisteu.
