SUPPLEMENTARY ESTIMATES. £21,000,000 ASKED FOR. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received March 1, 8.5 p.m. LONDON, February 28. In the House of Commons Sir Brio Geddes, in the course of a statement In support of the’Supplementary Estimates for £21,000,000, covering the liabilities under the railway agreement, said the provision was due to trade slump and the coal strike, Which had cost the taxpayers £8,000,000, also the Irish trouble, and increased wages. A curious feature of the debate was that Mr J. H, Thomas in championing the Government, particularly in connection with the settlement of the railwayman's wages.
