STATEMENTS BY PRISONERS. EMPHASISING IRELAND'S WOES. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) LONDON, February 19. At his trial at Wandsworth, the accused O'Sullivan admitted that he went li'to the Vacuum Oil Works for the purpose of setting them on Are, but he denied that he fired on the police with Intent to hi jure. He aimed high and wide. The object of the outrage was 1o bring home to the English the seriousness of what was happening in Ireland. Moran, Kennedy and the other defendants made similar admissions. Thev said they took revolvers to hold up the nightwatchman. but had strict orders cot. to kill or wound. The prisoners were acquitted on the ct arge of attempted murder, but were found guilty of arson and conspiracy. O'Sullivan and Moran were sentenced t>> eight years, and Kennedy to four years.
