A SERIES OF CHARGES. In I.lle Magistrate's Court, Hamilton, to-day . Sidney John Badams, alias S. .1. Davidson, late uf Te Aroha ami Morrinsville, labourer, was charged before Messrs .1. \V. Walsh and .1. E. Tidd, .I's.l'., with stealing a chequebook of the value of is, Hie property of William George Close, also stealing H towel valued at 2s Gd, the property of Waller Long, and also with obtaining from George Aben Reid £."i by raise pretences in that he represented a rhi<(|iir drawn on Die Bank of New Zealand, 'i'e Aroha, for Llial nm H .i^ vnlid. Accused pleaded guilly on all ripimls. On the first two lie was eonvicled and sentenced In seven days' imprisonment, with hard labour, the pen-li-ni'i slo be concurrent. (in the lasl charge he was committed lo Ihe Supreme Cmirl for sentence. Accused also pleaded guilty lo obtaining £3 I "»s fid from .lohn .Joseph Scholium by false pretences, lo forging a cheque drawn by \\. 0. Close .hi Ihe Bank of New Zealand, I>> unlawfully filling in the In iiy of Hip cheque for £ I 6, and uttering Die same I" the Hardware Metal Slores. Ltd., Hamilton; also with forging a cheque drawn by W. G. Close, and filling in the body of it for £8 10s, and causing William Melnman to act upon Ihe same as if il were genuine. On these charges accused was also sent In the Supreme Court for sentence.
