SERVICES RECOGNISED
BY FRENCH REPUBLIC. HONOURS FOR HAMILTONIANS. Messrs J. R. Pow (Mayor), A. E. Manning and H. Valder (former members of the Hamilton Efficiency Board), and E. J. Davey (treasurer) have been notified by the Vice-Consul for France for New Zealand that, by a decree published In the Official Journal of October 29th last, they have had conferred upon them by the President of the Republic the MedaUle de la Reconnaissance Francaise. In his letter, the Vice-Consul says: "It has been particularly agreeable to me to see that the eminent services - you have rendered to the French . cause during' the long war have been Recognised and highly appreciated by the French Government, and I have \ pleasure in offering you my best congratulations. As soon as the diploma and insignia of the decoration reach this Consulate, I will be happy to forward them to you." This appreciation of services by the French Republic is in connection with the campaign originated by Mr Du Flou to raise a fund for the relief of French war orphans, by means of which £7400 was subscribed in the Dominion,
