TAUPIRI. * The Rainfall. The rainfall for .January was 2.1 '» inches. The heaviest fall was 0. ilfin on the 22m1. Rain fell on eight days. Annual Sports. A meeting of the Taupiri Hall Committee was held on Monday, Mr A. H. Waring presiding. It was resolved to hold the usual horse and foot sports on Master Monday, and to get out preliminary posters without delay. Personal. The many friends of Mr P. Littlewood will be pleased to hear that lie is now convalescing after his late severe illness. A Pleasant Dance. A very enjoyable dance in aid of the hall funds was held last week. The promoters were Messrs B. Davies, A. Farrcr and Butten, while Mr White’s orchestra supplied excellent music. Tennis. Our tennis club is now in full swing again, and the members are busy getting into form in anticipation of the matches in the third round of the Lower Waikato Association’s round; A Dry Spell. The present dry spell is having a disastrous effect on the feed, and those farmers who were wise enough to provide abundance of green fodder arc reaping the benefit. RANGIAOHIA. The Harvest. The harvesting is going on at a groat rale in this district and the farmers arc clang their utmost to succeed in getting it nil in during the dry spell. There arc many very - fine oat and hay stacks to be observed throughout the district. Rabbit Extermination. The Rabbit Board lias carried out its work in a very successful manner, and the reduction of rabbits in the district is to be plainly noticed. Now that the prison is being laid on all properties it is hoped that a further impression will b» made and that the district will soon be clear of its pests.
