BUTTER THIEVES

iOXES STOLEN IN TRANSIT. DAIRY COMPANY’S LOSS. For several months past thefts ot boxes of butter from the insulated trucks that carry them to the Horotiu Freezing Works, have been reported to ttic New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company. The strictest check lias been kept on the quantities loaded, and a watch kept, but still the thief or thieves remain unlocated. At Waihou, a few days ago, the consignors even went to the trouble of wiring the truck round to exclude the possibility of thieving, but when it came to be unloaded the wire was found to be cut, and a box of butter missing. Tha police now have the matter in hand, as the company is getting tired of the constant loss of £7 boxes of butter.
