NUMBERING OF HOUSES
PLATES TO BE ORDERED. A question relating to the numbering of houses in the borough,'asked by dr. Barton at a meeting of the Hamilton Council last night, led to the disclosure that while the Council thought it had taken definite action in the matter, it had really done nothing. Cr. Barton asked wliaf progress had been made in Hie numbering, when the Town Clerk replied.that the numbers had nut even been ordered. Councillors expressed surprise at this, but Mr Davey announced that tha Council on a former occasion approved of one particular!number plate out of a selection, but gaVc no instructions that any should be ordered. It was generally agreed that a misunderstanding had occurred, and the cicrk was instructed to place an order immediately.
